Deflation tilings
This project displays generative tilings using deflation rules on two types of decorated square tiles. Shown here:
There are many patterns of four tiles (and this is not an exhaustive list):
To construct a deflation rule, we associated one four-tile pattern to each of the two tiles. Then, we iteratively replace each tile by its corresponding four-tile pattern. This results in a non-periodic tiling that can exhibit interesting large-scale sturctures. In the pictures below, we show on the top left the two four-tile patterns defining the deflation rule.
